Modeling and Design of Diffractive Optics

The talk is concerned with some recent progress on mathematical analysis and computation of Maxwell's equations in linear and nonlinear optical media. The underlying models arise naturally from diverse applications of micro-optics technology. Questions on existence, uniqueness, and regularity estimates of the solutions to the model Maxwell's equations will be addressed. Issues on inverse and optimal design problems of diffractive and subwavelength structures will be discussed. Progress on related topics will also be highlighted.
