Convection-Doffusion Equation with Space-Time Ergodic Random Flow. C.Landim, S.Olla and H.T.Yau. Keywords:Homogenization,Convection-Diffusion Equations Consider a passive scalar (like the temperature) diffusing in an incompressible fluid. It will satisfy the convection--diffusion equation with certain initial condition given. The fluid velocity is given by a time dependent random divergence-free field ergodic respect to translation in space and time. We study the effective diffusion on a diffusive macroscopic scale and the corresponding effective diffusion matrix. Such problem arises in the diffusion of contaminants in saturated porous media and in diffusion of particles deposited as sediment in convective flows.
