PERTURBATIONS OF EIGENVALUE PROBLEMS IN ELECTROMAGNETICS by H. AMMARI and J.-C. NEDELEC This paper considers the effect of two types of perturbations on eigenvalue problems for Maxwell's equations in bounded domains. The first kind occurs in calculating the change in resonant frequencies of a cavity due to absorbing material on its boundary. The second arises in analyzing a cavity containing a small body. For each of these perturbations, the resonant frequencies for the perturbed problem are constructed. In some special cases, the asymptotic results are shown to agree well with exact results.
