The Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) is the premier international forum for disseminating recent advances in the field of dynamic systems modeling and simulation. In addition to a technical program of unsurpassed scope and quality, WSC provides the central meeting place for simulation practitioners, researchers and vendors. Research in modeling and simulation is propelled by fostering cross fertilization between various disciplines. The theme for WSC 2013 is “Simulation: Making Decisions in a Complex World.”
LOCATION
WSC 2013 will be held in Washington, DC, at the JW Marriott Hotel. Located on Pennsylvania Avenue, this premier hotel is near the White House, National Theatre and the National Portrait Gallery. It's located just 15 minutes from Reagan National Airport. WSC '13 will provide an opportunity to visit the Smithsonian, Pentagon, monuments on the Mall, numerous museums and even the cathedral-like Metro stations.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Eric Bonabeau, Chief Executive and Scientific Officer, Icosystem Corporation, will be the Keynote speaker. He is one of the world’s leading experts on complex systems and is well known for his ability to apply the concepts of complexity science to real-world problems.
Jeff Cares, President of Alidade Incorporated, will be the Military Track Keynote speaker. He has been recognized as one of the “top thought leaders in Information Age innovation” and is well known in the military for his work on complex, distributed systems. He is also a Captain in the United States Navy Reserve.
TITANS OF SIMULATION
Richard Nance is Emeritus Professor of Computer Science at Virginia Tech and Chief Scientist for Orca Computer Inc. Barry Nelson is the Walter P. Murphy Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University.
PROGRAM
WSC 2013 features a comprehensive program ranging from introductory tutorials to state-of-the-art research and practice. Planned tracks are:
WSC 2013 will also continue to incorporate the MASM (Modeling and Analysis for Semiconductor Manufacturing) Conference, the leading modeling and analysis conference for global semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain operations. Also a stimulating Ph.D. colloquium, poster session and tutorials provide background on established and new methods, tools and application domains.
PAPER DEADLINES AND REQUIREMENTS
All contributed paper submissions will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the CD-ROM version of the conference proceedings. All papers must be presented for the paper to be fully published, copyrighted and fully disseminated. Instructions, information, submission forms and procedures are available on the WSC website, www.wintersim.org. Please note the following important deadlines:
April 1, 2013: Electronically submit contributed papers not previously published or presented. Each submission must be a 3- to 12-page paper, including an abstract of not more than 150 words. Panel papers and papers in the tutorials tracks may be up to 15 pages. Submission implies that an author will attend WSC ‘13 and present the paper; all clearance required for publication of the paper will be obtained by July 17, 2013. Use of the author’s templates in one of the following formats is required: Microsoft Word or LaTeX. Submissions must be made through the WSC website, www.wintersim.org.
June 3, 2013: Contributors will be notified whether or not their paper has been accepted.
July 17, 2013: Authors electronically provide a final manuscript meeting all technical and format requirements to the Proceedings Editor.
August 19, 2013: Deadline to electronically submit abstracts for presentations in the Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium.
October 4, 2013: Notification of acceptance of Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium abstracts.
WSC 2013 is sponsored by ACM/SIGSIM, ASA (Technical Co-Sponsor), IEEE/SMC (Technical Co-Sponsor), IIE, INFORMS-SIM, NIST (Technical Co-Sponsor) and SCS.
