Nicole Spillane

Who am I?

I am a CNRS researcher (chargée de recherche) at École Polytechnique in France. My department is the Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées, also known as CMAP - UMR 7641). My research focuses on the design, analysis and application of new parallel solvers that are efficient but also robust in the sense that they can be applied to problems of interest in the engineering or applied sciences communities. Before that, I was a postdoc at CMM (Universidad de Chile) in Santiago and a PhD student at LJLL (Université PIerre et Marie Curie) in Paris. I also hold a part time teaching position at École Polytechnique.

News

March 2021 I submitted this preprint to the DD26 proceedings. It is entitled Toward a new fully algebraic preconditioner for symmetric positive definite problems. It proposes for the first time a new domain decomposition preconditioner with a spectral coarse space. The particularity is that the method does not require the element matrices, or the Neumann in the subdomains. The full length paper is coming soon !

March 2021 I posted a new preprint entitled An abstract theory of domain decomposition methods with coarse spaces of the GenEO family . The usual abstract Schwarz framework is generalized to allow for singular local matrices. GenEO coarse spaces are defined in this general framework. All results are proved completely and numerical illustrations are provided.

2020-01-29 I gave a talk entitled Objectif Exascale : peut-on réaliser un milliard de milliard d’additions en une seconde ? at Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris. It was aimed at high school students.

2019-09-16 Together with Victorita Dolean and Daniel Szyld, I organized a conference at CIRM in Marseille entitled Parallel Solution Methods for Systems Arising from PDEs .

2019-09-01 I started my part-time teaching conctract at École Polytechnique.

2017-06-26 I had the honor of receiving a first prize at the IMA Leslie Fox Prize Meeting for my SISC article
